THIS pretty much reminds me of what we went through LAST YEAR during NDP.
At least THIS OTHER PERSON'S comments are more thought thru and not jumping the gun.
I think it will take people a l.o.o.o.o.o.o.ng time before they accept pole dancing as as form of new sport. So I have given up trying too hard to change people's mind set at a public event, I'd far prefer to educate it through a different channel, for example like at the POCC Pink Party, such as THIS CLIP.
But as far as public events are concerned, I have moved on to introduce another form of aerial arts. This Heritage Fest offered an extremely enriching experience, and above all, artists were paid proper "professional" fees & given TV coverage (albeit short). Comparing this to the former gig, the artists were paid only a "token" fee in exchange of many full-day rehearsals, and all these for a 10-sec TV exposure for the actual event (I heard this year YOG's pole dancers not even on TV), and in the end still had to suffer much public criticisms!
Well hopefully the next time if we are offered a chance to appear again, pole dancing would already be awarded its sports status just like yoga, pilates and martial arts.
while googling for more info, I chanced upon THIS, the article and comments are like "wow! i didn't know"

What is Advance Open Pole Class:
Open pole class is an open practice session for Acro Polates students having completed at least level 5 and above.
During the open practice session, a “move of the day”* will be demonstrated by the instructor, and it is practice-til-pole-fection by the participants.
The “move of the day”* can be an advanced move, a routine, a combo, can be on static, on spinny or first on static then spinny, can be a move dependant or independent of the previous class/other classes. If the earlier, the instructor will make known to students,
CONCEPT OF OPEN POLE CLASS
Simply to provide therapy, stress relieve, interact with students of various classes/ levels, while shedding some calories. It does not and is not meant to replace any of the other structured classes Acro Polates has designed for you.
As such, you can purchase single sessions or in clusters of 4, 6 or 8 sessions in each term. Needless to say, you save more when you purchase more sessions per term. Single or additional sessions can be cought at $30 per session but priority are given students who pre-purchase the sessions in the event of a full turn out.
The studio/instructor does not guarantee
1. a minimum or maximum number of participant in each class, the more the merrier but as the class grows too big, Acro Polates will open more slots
2. that it is a brand new move each session. Take it as practice and challenge yourself in getting into it faster or with more grace and ease if that move is not new to you.
3. That everyone will achieve the move at the end of the session, but the instructor will tailor the level of difficulty if the need arises.
What is the difference between Open Pole Class and Pole Practice
1. Pole practice is for all levels and everyone practising different moves at their own pace. There is no instructor during pole practices to ensure that you are getting the moves right.
2. With everyone trying to achieve the same move during the session, the challenge is heightened.
Class Rates (quoted per term)
1. Single class –come for class and purchase $30
2. 4 per term (pre-purchased) $100
3. 6 per term (pre-purchased) $140
4. 8 per term (pre-purchased) $170
For 2) and 3) additional slots can be purchased at $30/session
The studio reserves the right to turn away those who did not pre-purchase in the event the classes have full turnout.
For more info on the classes, please refer to Acro Polates Website or contact instructors or Ryan/Bobee at 6334 2382

Like a child, he would find ways to wriggle himself out of the routine, like pretending to be distracted, or just stopped altogether looking tired and pitiful. It gets worse when the weather is not cooperative or conducive for a workout.
Today he tried to pull the same stunt, so mummy pulled out the packet of bak kwa and he immeditately sprang into action knowing that he had to complete the lap before he gets his treat....very cute la he

Here's another one at Hard Rock (better lightings this time)
Tuesday, March 09, 2010
This post is about a most devoted husband I've known-my dad.
My mum is an opera addict, having performed and practiced cantonese opera from 16 to 60. She's now in her 60s and she still going strong in this artform.
My dad, not half as musically talented as my mum, enjoyed just chauferring her to and fro her practices. During his younger days he would wait around and see through her needs such as fetching her tea and buying her supper. Later as he got older, he would send her to the clan, then go home to nap or watch TV and be back in time to pick her up when practice is over.
Recently my dad just recovered from a mild stroke and we, the kids forbade him to drive. To curb his temptation so that he would take time off to recuperate properly (otherwise he would continue chauffering my mum and we caught him doing that several times), we had to do the cruel thing to sell off his car.
We encouraged our mum to carry on her pursuits to busy herself, but it also meant she would have to move out of the comfort zone to learn to take the public transport.
When my dad's health improved, he would saunter to the bus stop near our house to wait for his wife to come home from her bus ride.
When he got even better, he surprised my mum by taking the bus to the clan to meet her so that they can take the bus back together......and now apparently, is a regular ritual........and you should see the beam on my mum's face when she recounts this to us.
reminds to self - what is most important in this world is -true love, passion, honesty and GOD
Clearly from Sophie's pictures, the moves draw attention to the women's curves and lines, and the participant learns to appreciate her feminity and learn how to ooze sensuality with confidence.
The benefits, besides learning how to improve posture and facial expressions, you also improve flexibility and tone muscles like those of the thighs, carves & butt.
