I RECEIVED A COMPLAINT.......

......from my friend Meow (my cake kaki) that my blog updates are less regular????!!!!!

Fwah! Demanding friend there.....don't even know she has been reading regularly considering she only leaves an anonymous comment ONCE IN A BLUE MOON!

Anyway, yes, I have been kept busy since I participated in a world-wide pole dance forum....so much things to learn , hopefully you can tell from how regularly i acquire a new pole stunt. Think to some of you, the new moves all seem the same, but trust me, they are not. Even a slight twist of the body or a change of position requires a whole lot of different muscles and strength, not to mention fresh bruises. After all, all the balance and strength are resting on nothing more than a 2-inch pole, so expect them to be difficult, especially for someone without any gynastic or acrobatic background.....and the age!!

And again, i learnt a new move after watching one of the world's top pole dancer who is also a body builder, Fawnia.

Looks simple huh, but when i first tried it...i almost severed my left arm (the one supporting the back ). The second picture actually shows me slipping off .

If you wanna see Fawnia's video, you have to request in the comment, otherwise I'm not posting up here as it's only gonna reveal how elementary I am (yes, that's selfish, I know). Anyway, I have something to boast--thought I am the only singing-pole dancer in Singapore, but after joining the world-wide pole forum, I realise i'm the ONLY singing-pole dancer in the WORLD!!! Woo-hoo.

I CONQUERED THAT BACK HAND INVERT

(.......ok, later i found out it was called Iguana)

......yes, I'm back on my pole again.....I know, obsession....but how can you not spossibly be when you achieving so many crazy stunts you never dream of.

Saw this impossible way of going up a pole in a video of a UK pole dance contest. Wanted so badly to learn it. So today i drove all the way to dance school (we're having a term break cos dance teacher's away in UK to learn more stunts to come back and teach us), to practise this, plus other stunts of course. Glad effort paid of.

The first attempt wasn't quite successful as you can see, the second was better....but wasn't the most elegant move lah!

Some crazy things we pole dancers do.....tsk tsk!

There were only 2 of us in the studio today, always wanted a pole photo like this one, so got this other girl to take a picture of me in this typical sexy 'stripper' pose (with clothes on, of course) .....hmm.... i like the pose..... but pity no make-up on, can't use it for my marketing!

Anyway, my dear sister, if you are reading this, I know i owe you your birthday blog (btw, my sister had the most magnificent birthday party recently, some people just so lucky), but due to the fact i sent lots of marketing emails out recently, so think there will be some visits from readers to check ME out....so the next few posts will be about ME!!

Ok, ok, I will give you guys a break from my pole dancing...i know i've been at it too much already. If you think I'm addicted to the pole, you are wrong.......... I'm OBSESSED!!!!! Hahahahaha

Tonight I did a retro party. Suppose to be ala Connie Francis but think it turn out more to be "Chan Po Chu" or "Nancy Sit" Period Movies type. Haha......but client like....While I was dancing with one of them, he shouted to the rest of the audience "She's so pretty I want to kiss her" Woo-wee . Well ok, it has got to be a mature man to say that

Wah seh, this last picture really obiang pose man!

KIDS, DON'T TRY THESE AT HOME

Here's some videos on pole practices on some new stunts, hopefully will be using them for next performance.

Your saw this picture when i first achieved this pose. Practised hard for this.

If you interested, here's the video

Finally, just to show you that Suzie is NOT just always posting glam pictures, successful shows, let me show you some bloopers when i was trying out this move again......see how i crashed.....and ouch! (not about to paste it here, i still have some pride, but if you are in for some laughs, than click on this link)

Finally, some proof of the hard work- bruises sustained on arms and legs after these videos.

This on the arm
And this on the inner thigh.
Gosh my arm and my thigh are the same size now!!!

LOOK NA, NO HANDS

Woo-hoo, finally got this move, albeit needs a bit of shaping up, both me and the pose. The attitude is slighlty wrong, suppose to arch back more but i don't seem to be able to do that now. Trying to stay put without sliding down the pole already a huge challenge. Anyhow, I figured the trick to this, you gotto be a little sweaty and sticky to stick to the pole! Haha.

Another latest photo. An outdoor show at Sentosa...weather bl**dy hot, that's why you see the grease and grim on my face....don't look very glam, but somehow i like the and aura and the stringy skirt flying all over the place.

HOME POLE PRACTICE

Ok, no big deal this one. Just that my pole dance lessons will take a short halt for about a month (teacher going UK to receive further training so can train us somemore) and i decided to do some home practises. Routine and singing a bit raw but i will post the link anyway (vertical forum ladies, it's the same "Don't cha" one i posted in the forum) . Watch only if you are absolutely free and have no stiff neck cos the video is tilted to accomodate the long pole in a small room. Video takes a while to load.

Also practised new stunt (no hands type---wah soon can join jacky wu sunday's show liao hahaha). Will post the pic later cos forget to bring camera cable. Grr....

EGO BOOSTER

Yeah! I'm so happy..... happy client from my previous event gave me a compliment letter. Received in the mail sent to my boss today...woo-hoo!

I know, you may think I'm a pain to post this up, but you think I care? Haha. Nothing means more than having client appreciate what i created, all the sweat, bruises and injuries that comes from learning the pole (not forgetting the investment). I particularly like the second para. LONG LIVE POLE DANCING....i love you all, my new found pole dance community at www.verticaldance.com and not forgetting, the wonderful poledancedirectory.com

If i can post this anywhere else, I will.......YEAH!

MY LATEST POLE DANCE SHOW

The video is clearer, i think my dance is slightly better than the first video, but I'm definitely having more fun with video editing and the Youtube....just discovered i can paste it straight and not need to link. Haha!

This is just a rough edit using my new handphone software. My colleague, Adam will do a better one and maybe photoshop to make me slimmer. Hee! (yah, like put on weight hor)

I've also signed up with this thing called myspace. See what I have created for myself http://www.myspace.com/worldofsuziewong. I think very soon i don't need a wesbite liao.

JAMES GOMEZ DETAINED

Wah, Gomez the hammer now even hotter than Tammy the NYP liao. Here's the news on his detention on you tube.

James was my course mate in NUS Political Science. Pretty serious and aloof guy way back then. Then he looked like this, but never quite seen him smile like that.

I took political science for fun, well, not actually.....was actually thrusted with it due to no better options. But because it wasn't quite my cup of tea, I studied it candidly, picking easy units, memorizing them without much thought, just so that I can be awarded my degree. Guess that's why I never made friend with James, he had other reasons for taking the course!

Many people must have felt unhappy and think very petty of the Elections Department. I'm not here to judge but somehow I'm probably one of the few who can share the sentiment of the Elections Department. This whole seemingly trivia saga reminds me of my last Shanghai Hotel experience.

Remember my Shanghai airport saga (read
here if interested in long story)? Prior to the ultimate saga, I was accused by the hotel reception of owing them the room charges, when the full bill had actually been paid during check in (just like the Election Dept accused of misplacing the minority form). I had to ransack my luggage to find the receipt (equivalent to going thru the CCTV) to proof my point, and when I did, the stupid hotel staff just took a glance, key some stuff into the computer and said "mei shi le, mei shi le" (no issue already, you can go now). WHAT? I didn't even get an apology, at least James did. At this juncture, just like the PAP, I felt that this "mei shi le" wasn't good enough! I wanted to pursue....I went after the dodging staff, separated by the counter, and kept asking him "why huh? why you say I didn't pay? Explain....explain lah". Haha, so you see my point? Someone makes a mistake, when discovered try to push responsibilty and than when cornered, just "mei shi le, mei shi le" is not good enough. He was lucky I was rushing to the airport. If not I could have gone on and on "huh...huh..." probably until the security have to stop me. I ask you, you TL or not when someone tries to discredit you?

Anyway, if you still don't know what i mean, download this Mr Brown's
podcast. Many people heard already, very funny. Must be patient, takes a while, but worth the wait. For an account on what happen at the Election Dept, check out this link. Anyway you can find loads of news about the otherwise unknown James the Gomez.

POLLING OR POLE-ING???

I dont' have to poll on this Sat, my estate's a walk-over, but instead, i have to pole......have a pole performance on that day, conincidence? So today I try to get some practice before the show. Have been trying to perfect some moves, by now the stunts getting really 'chim'. Anyway, it's been less than a year since i started so I'm giving myself taps on the shoulder. Look....

Same move from different anger and height, see the second I started higher, means I had to climb higher.

A variation

The next one's called a pole cat nazi , judging from the picture, think i need to work on it some more.

The 2nd one suppose to push away from the pole...eeeeeah...... no strength.....will try again next time.

Anyway, most of these moves not executable yet for my next show..too dangerous. Hopefully i can get hold of some nice pix and videos of the show to upload

KEPT BUSY

It was a maddening week again. Had to work through Labour Day when everyone partied to the long weekend. Originally had gigs on Friday and May Day so supposed to have Saturday off and was looking forward to Caramelo (CAKE) with Meow on Saturday but received a last minute job on Saturday, so cake session had to wait. ....No, no, not complaining, I really enjoy performing.

Despite the schedule, I still managed 1) a brunch on Sunday at the Shangri-la's Line, thanks to my generous sister
2) attend my colleague Adam's birthday

the one with the cake smashed on the face is NOT the birthday boy! Haha! That' s Gary. I made sure they cut a clean slice of cake for me before the smashing. Smart eh! After the smashing, the rest of them ate the cake....eww...with grease and grime from the face. yucks!

This weekend's polling day (holiday) again i will be working....and a huge event somemore, hope to have new photos. That's all for now, I'm so tired liao.

MONKEY BUSINESSES

It was a whirlwind weekend juggling so many things. I did some hosting, singing gigs and mostly, i braved my first drum solo. Well, it went ok, but nothing to rave about , so not sure if I would put up the video. Maybe after i edited some clumsy parts. Ha!

Of course other than my regular work, gigs, church, I still managed some time to catch the last bit of my mum's opera performance on Sat, had supper with her & dad, celebrate her birthday on Sunday,

visited foot of bukit timah hill and east coast park and had dinner at the ECP hawker centre on Sun with a friend. My sis always asked me where i get my energy!

I chanced upon "Hindhede Road" situated at foot of Bt Timah Hill, when leaving Autobacs at Bt Batok (supposed to get something for my car), and I remembered I once had a secondary school friend, Penny who used to live in her granny's zinc house there. A group of us would go there after school to do projects at her place and after that, run out to a stream near by to catch tappoles. It was really scenic, serene and totally natural. Today, the place is so transformed with rows of modern town houses and terraces occupying the place and scores of people were there to either climb the Bt Timah hill or see some show houses. But what really amused me was that the place is now heavily populated by my other family.................

this .....................

Hahaha, there were so many of them you wouldn't turn a corner without bumping into a family of them, complete with papa, mama and babies. I thought this one was cute because she reminded me of how I look in the morning (did i tell you I was born in the year of monkey and I like swinging on a pole??) This chap just stared straight into me unperturbed when I snapped the first pic, than yawned, scratched her ass and got down. What happened next makes me regret i wasn't armed with my new nokia phone with video. While she calmly strutted away, another fella just came from behind, grabbed her rear and humped her like 5 to 8 times and then they parted. SO SCANDALOUS!!!! Hahaha. No wonder there are so many of these

Later in the evening, I went to EC Park for dinner, not before i practised some pole stunts at home ( inspired by my fellow siblings climbing up and down the trees). Have you heard about the new Cable Ski Park? Gosh, it was a pretty sight at night.Don't ya think?

To end the hectic weekend, I treated myself to my favourite salt-bake crab (Yim Gok Hai) from a favourite stall at the hawker centre. Sis, you want to know where you can find this also?

Yumm.....

WORLD GOURMET SUMMIT 2006

Nothing much happened cos I had a nice 2-week break .....with nothing much to do, no gigs, no singing, no hosting and no pole......and I had a really nice Easter weekend spending with family and friends.....and lots of eating. Re-count what I did....I had:

1. cakes and coffee at Canele with Meow --the Caramelo.....yummmm...
2. spotted this cute giant easter egg and bought for my nephew & niece

3. Had easter lunch at green house at the ritz carlton with family and dinner at the no signboard at ECP
4. Took chubby niece to bakerzin. See how happy we were (altho meow says i look tired....geez....coming from someone who always have sleepy eyes! cheh!)
(Oh by the way, finally bought a new phone, the Nokia 6280, these 2 pictures took from the new phone)

Don't I just look so BLISSFUL??? Huh? huh? Meow?

5. And last but not least.....I got invited to more feast at the WORLD GOURMET SUMMIT "meet the stars" The celebrity chefs were the stars...but i know not them....I was only interested in the food! Thanks my darling 'K' for inviting, you the sweetest!

At the party were also Darryl David, Mark Richmond, Hamish Brown.....sorry no Tatler-type photos...I was busy savouring the food. The invite says Dress Code : Casual Chic but......

????Maybe she came from a Ball.....

Anyhow, it was enjoyable and I pestered my way to be invited next year (wink).

After all these feasting, finally will be back at work this weekend. Will be performing for some 100 delegates at a welcome dinner at this nice exclusive 2-level office pent house. Nice not? Will be attempting my drum solo!

It's double storey, the steps leading up to the 62nd storey!

That's me recce-ing the place!

Hope to post some pictures after the event, and if possible, video too.

INSPIRED!

After watching so many inspiring belly dance videos on Youtube, I have finally gotten down to choreograph a drum solo, which i will be performing next week.

Previously i avoided drum solos because you got to know the piece really well in order to execute the accents correctly. I just stuck to veils because can 'gasark' a bit, like this one. Just lots of figures 8, myans, snake arms and some shimmies

Anyway, time i do a new choreography, but you know it's so difficult when i have to juggle between memorising songs (utimately i'm a singer right?) and now that t'm also doing the pole!

These photos from a recent event.

ANYONE WATCHED MS SINGAPORE UNIVERSE?

Did you all find the results a little hmm....mixed up? Anyway, I wanna kill myself. I was there watching live and I DIDN'T BRING THE CAMERA!!!! So no pictures to post! I was still living in the era thinking mediacorp does not allow handphones or cameras into their studios but so many people were clicking away...brr.....

Anyway, everyone was there, Sandy Chua, Bernice Wong (previous winners in case you don't know), Denise Keller (judge), Pierre Png (naturally since the wife was hosting). But I think the steal of the night went to the twins-May & Choy. Heard about them but first time watching them, and live somemore, and I must say they are georgeous with lots of youth and a touch of Christy Chung bambi looks and class. And my.....can they really memorize their lines. I guess that's the forte of MTV VJs. Both of them rattle on their lines flawlessly, alternating between each other (and mind you, live recording means no NGs and no re-takes), without a glitch. You can see that even the charismatic anchor Adrain Pang fumbled at certain parts, but he made it up with his loads of wits.

Anyway later at the post reception I got to really see everyone up close, including all the finalists. And I must say Denise Keller is really beautiful, even though I'm not a fan of hers. But you know what? With Denise, May & Choy and some of the socialites strutting around, I just wondered how come some of our Ms Singapore finalists cannot be even half as georgous as them. Theses should be the minimum standard.

CALLING FELLOW BELLY DANCERS......

Download these 2 videos......very nice dancing......one is graceful and subtle and the other one full of vigour....but both very nice.

1. Graceful Belly dancer
2. Aliya

Stumbled upon this when I was trying for fun to download my pole dance video clip on You tube (didn't know it was quite easily done). Can you believe that, within the 1st hour it attracted some 300 over viewers from over the world ....wow! Didn't even have that statistics in one year from my website.....haha....

Just type in the word 'belly dance' in the search and you see loads and loads of other videos.....don't have time to watch all cos some are like 5mins long. Think even got some from Singapore.....they dancers look familiar and have some funny comments too. Ignore other nonsense clips

..........................................later...........................................

oh ok, so I think I've embarassed myself, i'm the swah koo one. As i watched on and now see some REALLY familiar faces, I figured many already familiar site way before my discovery!! Haha.

Anyway like to welcome my new reader, my little friend Sarah! Hello!

SAWADEE

Hosted an event 2 nights ago attended by the Thai ambassador and Governor, so had to don on a Thai outfit. For a long time I had not had to rent a costume because I own most of the stuff, but this is one I really did not have....so I guess a Thai outfit will make it to my shopping list of my next Bangkok trip

Since this is a rented outfit, as you can see, it didn't fit me so well and i actually look quite fat

This another wig I bought from HK, but this only a hair attachment piece where you 'kiap' it to your own pony tail (not a good idea, caused a lot of hair to drop). Couldn't resist taking a picture in the loo again

The event featured also some real Thai dancers, very very sweet ladies, in fact some are beauty queen title holdersAm hesitant to post the photo I take with them cos afraid I will pale standing beside them......but aiyah.....what the heck......post lah

Ok la, I not so bad hor.

It was an official event, so I had to be careful with my words. But I attempted a Thai song to relax the mood, actually got some people singing and dancing along, so I guessed they were thrilled with my song. Anyway, was glad it all turned out well, because you know how all those protocol things just stifle the poor MC.

Last night I did another job which had a much more relaxed atmosphere, a sales conference welcome dinner attended by only 40 people. No photos because although only 40 people, I was juggling everything, the games, the MC, the entertainment!
