AH BOY IS A STAR!

Someone is obviously moved enough to cover the story of AH BOY on Gold 90.5 during lunchtime jukebox!

Apparently the story continues later today........so tune in if you have time.

Ah Boy is a celebrity dog!

BTW, I've uploaded the full MC cum tribal pole art video, it's available on the side link for those interested. Shows me doing hosting, singing and then the pole performance in one night

------------------later-------------------

Oh indeed, Ah Boy story was told at 11.45am today, albeit a little inaccurate. But still, he's MY boy!

Flattery?

I regularly advertise my pole art on Mocca.Com under the Entertainment Section. So far not gotten huge responses, except for some small enquiries here & there, but it's ok as ads are running free now during the promotion period.

This morning I received an sms from this # _136177_ asking if I do private dance (money not an issue wo!!!!). I replied "no, sorry". He went on to ask how old am I. I asked him how old he thought I was. He said 24! Wa! Haha! Sorry, still no private dance.

YEAH! MINI SCREEN NO MORE

The Konica Minolta digital camera with a mini minute screen has faithfully served me for the past 3 years. Many of my blog photos and pole practices videos had been taken with that camera. Each time I video a pole routine and play back for my pole-mates, they will complain about having to squint to watch themselves...Lol!

Squint no more ladies for I have just received an early birthday present:

Ta-dah! A SONY CYBERSHOT! woo-hoo! FINALLY! Very sleek/feminine colour somemore :)!

The playback screen on the back is almost the same size as the camera!

Surely the benefactor deserved a nice meal, and here are the FIRST pictures taken with the new toy:

(ok, pictures may look normal as I haven't learn how to calibrate the functions yet! You wait)

TRIVIAS

Nothing much to blog as I had been gigging non-stop last week, so just some trivia.

Trivia #1

Remember the cosmetic-surgically controversial blog queen who became a "celebrity"? Recently there had been a report of ang mo bully #2, (#1 was trishaw man) of an assault of a teenage girl & her friend. I was curious and checked out her blog. Spot the similarity:

http://www.princess-michie.blogspot.com/
http://www.dawnyang.com/

Trivia #2:

Last night I did EVERYTHING I possibly could for the neighbourhood event liao. Apparently they now commented about the microphone (not my fault-there were some interferences). One more to go! Sweat!

Trivia #3

Squeezed out some time to see Ah Boy briefly today as I had church in the day and a gig at night. That day bought him satay and he finished 10 sticks like in a minute. Today treated him to boneless chicken rice. He lapped up everything in 15sec. I'm serious! Guiness world of record man! haha.

Ok, gonna try to get some rest as my body and vocal chords have been bruised and battered by the non-stop poling & singing! Completely drained......

TRIBAL POLE

You've heard of Tribal Belly, I attempted Tribal Pole last night. Not much dancing though as client/audience quite wholesome people and will not take to the idea "pole dance" too well.

Nothing much "tribal" for me except for the music & skirt, it was my dear fire/poi guys who did all the work la, but I just love the sea-side setting and ambience, which was breathtaking! Enjoy!

NOT BAD FOR SOMEONE.....

.........who won't be in the 30s for very long.....

still can make uncles nose bleed right? Hahahahaha! Self praise!

As you can tell, I was required to dress ala race queen for this event (F1 organizers take note...hire me...hire me!)

Tonight I did another pole for a 'tribal' theme. Nice setting next to the sea. Posting video soon, watch ok?

MY FIRST PET!

During my growing up years, (amongst other things), there were some things that i yearned for but I never had; I yearned for music lessons which my parents could not afford. Then seeing how some of my friends have pet dogs, I longed for one (I remember wildgoose mentioned her family would not allow pets, my family is like that too).

So now, i can finally call THIS DOG my own....hahahaha................!

Ah Boy is so adorable! See how mild he is?

IMPORT FROM WHERE?

I paid $10 to catch them on the last night just because there was so much hype that they are super gorgeous babes from US.

Contrary to what they claimed that they are used to posing with cars for 8 to 10 hours a day, tonight, their appearence was sporadic and fleeting.

Feeling a little BAMBOOZLED!

They actually made the local models look not bad.

And what's wrong with all these guys? They can snap non-stop one lor!

DREADING THIS!!!!!!!

It's a series of 5 neighbourhood pole shows (1 per weekend), not exactly your glam set-up but I obliged as I cherish every opportunity to perform, practice and perfect my Pole acts. I just completed my 3rd of the 5 series and every week the stress is mounting.
First & foremost, let me say that the audience that I have to face every week is a HIGHLY challenging group of neighbourhood (kopi diam) uncles & aunties. i have had really nice aunties & uncles, but somehow, not this group. Secondly, the outdoor non air-condition situation cause me to perspire so much that it is really hard to cling onto the pole. And half the time I find myself gasping for air, but all these I take in my stride.

The 'block' booking was confirmed based on watching my
video. So on the first night, I did exactly the same act as in video. The organizer came running shocked and asked why I sang English song. I thought they watched my video? Was told to change to ALL mandarin or dialect songs for the following week's act.

Came second week, I did ALL Mandarin numbers. Feedback--happy with the all-mandarin numbers, BUT how come the pole stunts same as the first night? Huh? Suppose to vary meh? Than how come other singers also can sing the same songs and MC plays the same games? Ok, maybe I didn't attempt ENOUGH stunts due to my sweaty body against the pole. Don't want to argue!

Tonight, I was careful to do ALL Mandarin songs and I ensured that I executed EVERY Pole stunt that I possibly know, even adding some variations to them. Then came the feedback.....Why end the show so fast? So short!

Ok, I WILL do all mandarin songs, vary or perform ALL my stunts and ADD one more song to the next set!

Two more weeks to go, I wonder what next?

PUBLIC HOLIDAY IS.........

VISIT AH BOY DAY!

So I promised to take pictures of this place at my next visit. So here goes....
I told you it's a haven for mongrels! No frou frou dogs here. The one that comes closest to it is this one:

The owner of the place asked if I want to walk Ah boy! Wee! I was just afraid that once out, he won't want to return.
After having been in captivity for almost 2 weeks, I think he gets tired easily (he's still caged as he's not sterilized)......so when he found a shade.....he justWhen the time comes to take him back, he showed no sign of resistence. It clearly shows he has adapted to the place.

Ah boy is truly an angel. At one point when he was sitting by a dog training house, a stupid Schnauzer half his size crept up behind him to ready to pounce on him, Ah Boy just glanced back and sauntered a few steps away.

YOU KNOW YOU HAVE COME OF AGE WHEN..

.........you can read the fine prints of the ANA cheap tickets promotions to USA (Today's paper) so much clearer after removing your glasses!!!!
OH NO! CAN LAZIK SAVE ME?
I took an interest in that ad (only $800 over bucks to LA or San Francisco) because I haven't been to US like for 5 years and I really hope to spend some quality time researching and getting some pole dance materials since pole dancing is supposedly huge there. You know how these cheap tix come with tons of conditions and suddenly I was like "who the hell can read these uber small prints".....and then...... Uurgh!!!!!! I dreaded this day, I swear.

Anyway since I'm on the topic of age, I gotta say aunty here still passes off as a hot deal after more than 10 years of performing. Last night I was performing for a press company. After my act, a table of what I thought was some enthusiastic guests forced me to down a glass of beer. I may be an entertainer but I can't drink, and only my friends & family know that. In order not to be a spoil spot, I downed half and hurriedly excused myself by saying that I have to drive to another gig.

While outside bidding my goodbyes to the event company, I suddenly felt my head spinning and was led to a chair. One of the guests who made me drink came over and teased me. I took the opportnity to rant about him causing me to be tipsy. While resting my forehead on my palm, I suddenly felt him going on his knees and whispered that he should take me to wherever I was supposed to do my next gig and then spend the rest of the night with him! I couldn't decide if I had an instant urge to throw up or throw a punch at him. What a disgusting man working in a reputable press company! (it sounded even more disgusting when the indecent proposal was done in Mandarin.........hahaha, yes i can laugh now, but really, it was damn 'er xin lor')

STORY OF AH BOY ....Part 3

I'm now officially the guarantor of Ah Boy! I feel like I've just become a parent! (Didn't the mama call me a B*tch during the insult session? haha!). Got responsibilities now!

Just visited him, and he's doing quite well, except that he is still caged as sterilisation has not been performed.

The next time I will post a picture of this place, it is a haven for ex-strays. Hundreds of them, and they can run around freely within a huge compound. Don't expect to see frou frou dogs, they are all rescued strays and abandoned canines (felines on the other side). I was quite brave to have gone in there to be sniffed by scores of them before I was allowed to 'pass' and see AB in the cage. Even when I was saying my hello to AB, I was not spared as many curious ones came to poke their noses to see what the fuss was about.

For the first time I heard AB whine a little when I was about to leave....oooohhh.....that broke my heart!

My dear blog friends, if you've never been there, I suggest you make a trip there on a weekend. Or I can organise an 'excursion' there sometime, the experience was just empyreal! For those who have previously received x'mas gifts from me, sorry this year you will only receive the 2008 Pet Villas Calenders in support of the place. If you want to help them out, please go and get the calenders or order through me, I'd gladly get them for you.

AH BOY RESCUED...Part 2

from AVA! Woo-hoo!

onward to the vet than to his new home, a shelter for dogs.

Throughout the journey, still not a bark. Only problem was he didn't know how to get into car because he 'kampong' dog right. According to friend when Ah Boy was brought to the vet, he allowed them to inject and manicure him without a struggle. How cute is that!?

Anyway, do you remember the story of Xiao Hei (Blackie) the Yishun neighbourhood mongrel that made news, and eventually was adopted by an MP? Don't you think Ah boy has an uncanny resemblence of Blackie? Let's hope Ah Boy is as lucky lor

Story of AH BOY part one

Ah Boy, a mild mannered, laid back black mongrel used to call the east side of Singapore home. Hawkers often fed him with remnant food and Ah Boy would particularly love devouring the left over Satays, earning him the reputation "Satay dog".

Ah boy has such a kind demeanor, I have NOT once heard him bark, not even when passing leashed dogs and stray cats attempted to agitate him. The hawkers loved him and so did the regular patrons.

On one occassion I was dinning with a Friend and overheard the next table mama telling the hawker that dogs like Ah boy should be put down. Friend was ticked off by the suggestion and started an argument with mama which eventually led to shouts & insults.

The next thing we knew, mama probably called the AVA and had Ah boy captured. When Friend knew about this, Friend was devastated and was prepared to pay $500 fee plus other administrative charges to 'bail' Ah boy out, and hope that Ah boy can be placed in a shelter for dogs.

Ah boy's fate is still unknown as Friend paid a visit to AVA today and discussed the procedures. And that little time Friend was allowed to see Ah Boy, Ah Boy was still that gentle dog, no struggle, no whining, only sadness in his eyes as though he knew he had only limited time on earth. Friend's assurance to Ah Boy that everything will be alright did not evoke any emotions. I hope he knows he will live!

If this story touches your heart and you think you can help, please drop me an email or comment here.

More updates on Ah Boy coming up soon.

A CUPPA ANYTIME

I happily inherited this expresso machine from my boss when he recently moved to as his swanky new Icon Apartment. He has access to all the branded coffee joints just stone's throw away and he doesn't need to DIY anymore.

Man, it made such a good cup of coffee I never have to visit starbucks anymore. I think I need more stylo utensils...haha, this cup & saucer is such a disgrace!

THANK YOU BOSS

MUSCLY BOOBIES

I'm quite a health freak, and I usually rather faithfully adhere to my scheduled checkups & tests.

Today I was due for my annual check of the mammaries. I won't even tell you this if not for the funny conversation between doctor & me when he was delivering what I think was called the Ultrasound Scan

Doc : Do you do a lot of exercises?

Me : Ah....ya!?

Doc : Wah, very muscular hor!

Me : Huh? You mean you can see from the scan?

Doc : You see the different layers (ponting to the screen)? This layer is the muscles. Yours very thick and well-developed....I seldom see this in a woman..

I know he wanted to know what kind of exercises I do, but not the most advisable to suggest or utter the word "pole dancing" for a woman lying stark topless. So when he prompted "you lift weights huh?" I just concurred "yes. lift weights" ('my own body weight')

Anyway, since we're on the topic of nakedness, I think you will enjoy this video called "Total Naked"
MUST WATCH !

Sunday, October 21, 2007

Just hope that someone can help me....

get the handspring! I have been trying it for months and still not get it.

I was sharing with Wildgoose & B over the weekend that I wish someone can tell me what muscles I should engage or what strength I lack so that I can start training that up.

Sometimes I can get into a new move rather quickly, like the
pole split. I only had to watch from a video once. I experiment with it and achieved it.

Today I just saw another move, tried it, got it, although it hurt like a biatch! When the bruises under the arm recover, I'll try it further up the pole and try get into it more gracefully.

SHOWS JUST GOT BOLDER

Nothing different, you say! Cos I'm not talking about myself. I'm talking about the participants.

Uncle got into the act and removed top when I removed my furry coat. Sorry I had to censor more than the eyes as his boobs were a little obscene. Lol!

Just some fun shots, look at the guy on left! He was really inspired, after that he couldn't stop experimenting with climbing the pole. Sorry camera missed out on those.

Who else but stripper uncle won the challenge trophy.

Just some fave shots!

I just returned from another show. This time I had a particpant who totally at his own discretion stripped down to his underpants! I'm NOT kidding and it was no fault of mine, but the achohol's. I couldn't have posted his pictures even if I had them because er.....it was sort-of an academic event. I certainly hope the audience who were frantically snapping away with their cellphones would not sabo you, Don! Lol!

LOTSA SPIN AFTER AN ACHEY SPLIT

Yes, the pole split gave me achey legs, so not much invert tonight

Lots of spins, and honestly some to me are pretty impressive one-arm spins like the 3rd & 4th spin in This Video

As I happily bragged about my one-arm spin to a dear friend, he non-chalantly remarked "Wa! Very good. Can you next time do no arm?" Grr....!!!

YIPPEE! I MANAGED TO SPLIT ON THE POLE

When I first saw this move, it looked freaking dangerous and I thought I could NEVER do it! Never could do a proper split on the floor to begin with.

Well, hard work pays off ! (It's not the most flattering picture as my short legs look REALLY comical...haha, but ah well!

And I proudly show off the video

ALL GROWN UP NOW

These were the exact same events(my dad's Clan birthday celebration) held at the same place, same guests and same format. Only difference being--they are 2 years apart.

See the chubby girl in the background with me 2 years ago? Spot her now

The boy has upgraded from suit to a tux. He had been wanting to wear it at my wedding. I think he knows it's not happening, so I guess he decides to wear it now before he outgrows it! Haha

As always, mum and me will NOT be spared from contributing our fair amount of artistic talents in events like these. But really, mum is THE BIGGER star. Here you go, Ms Sin Lady,

(wa! mum's video has higher viewership than my recently loaded pole video! woo-hoo)

NEW HOME FOR THE POLE-HOLICS

"Sadly the studio had closed, but we are keeping the dance alive at the Jitterbugs Swingapore" so says thebodytalks website.

It was my first time visiting the 3rd floor of Millennia Walk. And boy, was I surprised how bursting with energy Jitterbugs Swingapore was last evening with its 3 mega studios filled to the brim with dance students. Dominating the place were many hip-hoppy teens and the early 20something in cargo pants & streetwear. I felt really out of place when I set foot inside. Thankfully no one came up to me to ask which child I'd come to fetch.

We are given 2 nights of practice sessions a week, that's so decent of them. Last night was our first and we spent 3 solid hours practising intensively, trying to get use to our new home. Believe me, it wasn't difficult, I'm already in love with the studios and the poles.

Thoroughly enjoyed the sessions after a hiatus of several weeks since thebodytalks decided to close. Just as well I have to practice real hard as I need to really fit to fulfill some requests to perform, including a birthday bash & NUS Faculty of Arts & Social Science Alumni Charity Event.

Tonight we were completely drained, so only managed a few couple tricks like this with Linna

Oh, btw, THE ACCOUNT has been SUSPENDED. Thanks!

Unmistakably MY CAR

Was so excited to collect this today.

Do you know what this is?

TA-dA

MY PERSONAL CAR DECAL!

Can be better, but let's see how long the letters are gonna stay there

SPOOKY OR KOOKY?

My beautician, Y told me this while I was having my facial the other day.

Y used to have an arowana , of which she reared from a baby til it was almost 2 feet in length. One day Y returned home spent from shuttling between tending to her salon and 2 kids. Y is a single mum, you see. She collapsed on her tatami on the living room the minute she reached home after sending kids to school and fell asleep almost instantly.

She claimed she woke up dazed to find a stranger, a girl sitting next to her. The girl said she had come to bid her farewell as she was going for reincarnation. As the girl was a total stranger, she hurriedly got up and showed the girl to the door and pleaded for her to leave. When she opened the door, she saw 3 more strangers standing outside and they seemed to be waiting for the girl, and off they went.

When Y hit the tatami again, she claimed she became wide awake and couldn't sleep and hence she decided to head back to her salon.

That night, when she returned home, she found her pet fish sprawled on the floor, perished. Y was devastated.

Next day as she was clearing out the fish and the fish tank, a neighbour came out and asked what had happened. When Y explained what had happened, the neighbour replied "Yah, so weird. Yesterday my 3 hampsters also died"!!!

Remember the 3 strangers standing outside the door! Ewww............
